Interzero Group mourns the loss of Markus Müller-Drexel

Well-known Managing Director of Interseroh+ dies at the age of 59

Berlin/Köln. Shocked and infinitely saddened, the management of the Interzero Group informs us that Markus Müller-Drexel, CEO of Interseroh+ GmbH and Managing Director of Interzero Holding, passed away unexpectedly on the morning of January 18th.

„The news about the death of Markus Müller-Drexel is an unbelievable shock“, states Dr Axel Schweitzer, Chairman of the Interzero-Group. „With him we lose a central figure of our company, a pioneer of packaging recycling in Germany and a clever consultant. And above all, I am losing a friend. My thoughts are with his wife Heike, his son Dominik and with his entire family.”

„MMD“, as he was known not only in the company but also in the industry because of his long name, was a member of our company for over 30 years and played a key role in establishing and managing the licence business. 1992 to 1997, he managed the southern branch of the former INTERSEROH Dienstleistungs GmbH in Munich. 1997 he moved to the headquarters in Cologne, where he took over the management of the operational business. As of May 1st, 2002, Markus Müller-Drexel was appointed Managing Director of INTERSEROH Dienstleistungs GmbH. From 2016 he took over the role of CEO of ALBA Services Holding.

As Founding Managing Director of Interseroh+, he transferred his idea of a “recycling alliance” from January 2022 into reality – an association of companies that want to do more than just fulfil the licensing obligations for packaging, but actually want to close the raw material cycles. In August 2023, Müller-Drexel was appointed Managing Director of Interzero Holding GmbH & Co. KG, the Holding company for the whole Interzero Group.

Markus Müller-Drexel is recognized in the industry as one of the best experts and managers of integrity in the licensing business. He has been involved in numerous committees, including the Federal Association of the German Waste Management and Water Industry (BDE), as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Climate Economy Foundation and as Chairman of the Environment and Energy Committee of the Cologne Chamber of Industry and Commerce.

The employees of the entire Interzero Group are very sad. They lose a great colleague and fair supervisor.

Condolence
