Germany reaches Country Overshoot Day

Interzero campaign "Future Sounds" increases sustainability awareness

Tired, overworked and simply empty? Then you feel like our home planet today. The calculations of the Global Footprint Network show: We are living significantly beyond our means. 2 May 2024 marks the day when all the earth's natural resources available for an entire year would be used up if the same consumer behaviour as in Germany were adopted worldwide.

At Interzero, we do not want to accept the progressing exploitation of resources. On the contrary, we are working for a world without waste, where we use what is available to us sustainably and responsibly. With our "zero waste solutions", we actively contribute to climate protection every day and secure the supply of raw materials for future generations.

Future Sounds – A campaign for our planet

"Nur noch kurz die Welt retten" (Just quickly save the world) – it takes many partnerships and sustainable alliances to push back the Earth Overshoot Day even further. At Interzero, we firmly believe in this and work every day to keep more raw materials in circulation and, by this, protect primary resources. Furthermore, we want to raise awareness of the sustainable use of resources and draw attention to the Global Earth Overshoot Day.

Speaking of awareness: Our campaign “Future Sounds – A festival for our planet” has been running since 7 April (Country Overshoot Day Austria). The idea: just like at a music festival, we come together for our mission, experience a shared enthusiasm for the topic and work together to raise awareness for a more sustainable use of our resources.

The fictious festival “tours” along the Country Overshoot Days in the Interzero countries Germany, Italy, Croatia, Austria, Poland, Serbia, and Slovenia. Our diverse line-up against resource waste? Our innovative services and products, with which we avoid waste and recycle raw materials. The campaign focuses on social media, but can also be experienced analogue via posters in individual countries.

Together with partners and customers, Interzero is already pushing back Earth Overshoot Day worldwide by 7 minutes and 16 seconds. This continues to motivate us to find even better solutions for the sustainable use of resources, to recycle more and more materials and thus reduce the burden on our planet.

The date of Global Earth Overshoot Day 2024 will be published by the Global Footprint Network on 5 June.
