Recycling for climate protection

Interseroh makes an important contribution to relieving our climate: by recycling around 2.8 million tons of metal we help save over 5.3 million tons of greenhouse gases. Measured against the total German emissions of 917 million tons of greenhouse gases in 2011, this is a substantial contribution.

Metal recycling profits from an almost constant quality

Metals are one of the non-renewable raw materials. Apart from the economic and ecological burdens from mining under increasingly difficult conditions, they have to be recycled if only on account of the limited resources. Furthermore, recycling metals saves significant amounts of greenhouse gas emissions. Within the scope of the study prepared by the Fraunhofer-Institute UMSICHT, this greenhouse gas-relief was considered on the basis of the metal fractions aluminium, steel and copper.
